Alas previously had a rather long name: The Foundation for Sustainability and Peacemaking in Mesoamerica. We suggested changing it to Alas (Spanish for wings), which is also the last name of its founder. A more memorable name and branding based on pre-hispanic graphics give the feeling of where the charity operates, rather than writing it.
