PLACEMAKING | URBAN ART | MURAL
In Sydenham, a developer demolished the area’s oldest pub, leaving only the facade. Part of the condition of the rebuild, set by Lewisham Planning, required the rebuilt back wall to feature artwork.
With a mural ‘Of Sydenham by Sydenham’, we recreated the Greyhound pub sign using a
mosaic of images from the local community. Adapted to include a colourful field of wildflowers, the mural received high praise, with The Londonist calling it ‘exceptional.’ Local stories can help foster community pride and transform urban spaces, making a dark, uninviting alleyway a community asset.
